X-rays are a vital part of the diagnostic process in dentistry. It is not possible to see all dental disease without the its use.
We have Digital X-ray systems that can be accessed and images manipulate on computer screens in order to achieve the best possible diagnosis. Digital X-rays also reduce the need for higher doses, as the exposure time is significantly reduced compared to traditional X-ray methods.
Dentistry is mainly looking at hard tissues of which teeth are the most dense, requiring significantly less dose than medical X-rays. Therefore dental X-rays are recommended at least every two years even if there are no pain symptoms reported, as most dental problems do not cause pain until it is too late!
